Accommodation
Take a little break in Tuscany…
The Location
We’ll be tying the knot in the South of Tuscany, a place that stole our hearts. Set in the iconic Val d’Orcia region, the valley lies between the towns of Pienza, San Quirico d'Orcia and Montalcino. It features Unesco-listed countryside, inviting hilltop villages and remote castles. You might recognise the surrounding scenery from the film Gladiator!
The Venue
The Borgo Sant’Ambrogio is a beautiful historic estate in the South of Tuscany dating back to the 1600s. It has an olive grove and working organic farm, producing its own extra virgin olive oil, truffles, grains, cheese and timber. Set within a stunning nature reserve, the venue and local village are surrounded by 125 hectares of oak woods with two streams. Expect to cross paths with deer, pheasants, hares and more.
Sant’Ambrogio (Saint Ambrose) was a 4th-century Bishop of Milan. His name, derived from the Greek "ambrosios," meaning "immortal" or "divine," connects him symbolically to the concept of eternal life, the soul's immortality and a long and happy marriage.
Local Stay Recommendation: Pienza
We recommend you stay in the centre of Pienza. It’s a charming hillside town dating back to 1459, with breathtaking views, romantic streets to wander and intimate restaurants and cafés. Pienza really is the perfect spot for your time in Tuscany, just 15 minutes from our venue!
And since it’s tricky to get a taxi in the area, we’ll be organising transport to and from a central spot in Pienza on the wedding day so you can relax, enjoy a glass of Tuscan wine and party with us until late.
Happy planning!
